What can Make or Break Your Logo
Logos represent our business so our logos should always be the best it can be. Today we’re dishing out some tips on what makes or breaks your logo, because all too often, we see people get too carried away that the logo loses its essence.
- Your colors, if there isn’t a good contrast in color, you’ll notice that things can feel washed out and become hard to read. And the last thing you need is a logo that isn’t easy to read.
- Adding too many elements. What does the NIKE and Apple logo have in common? The simplicity of their logo. Design is not really about how much you can fit into a logo, it’s really about how much you can edit down your design to maintain the essence of your brand without too much clutter in your design. When designing, go through and ask yourself if each element has a purpose in the design. (Yes, this is why in art and design schools, our critique sessions are 6 hours long, because we really take the time to dissect each design into its elements and figure out what is really necessary.)
- Following the second point, be careful of details that don’t scale. if you have a lot of complex details that don’t work when they are 50 pixels by 50 pixels, then you’ll definitely find yourself in some sticky situations when you need them to be small.
Happy Designing!
